1.) Clean and Tidy.
This is the most important thing you can do to ensure a professional video production. Treat the video shoot as though you were expecting a personal visit from a prospective homebuyer. A room that is free from clutter will show much better. This is especially true in video!
- Remove clutter, such as stacks of books and magazines, or piles of boots or shoes
- Organize shelves and end tables
- Don't leave dishes in the sink or on the counter
- Pick up any kids' toys, especially those that may be lying around the den or living room
- Is your refrigerator "decorated" with notes, pictures, and magnets? If so, you should consider removing them for the shoot.
2.) Bathrooms.
These rooms deserve special mention because we don't often notice the obvious. In particular, you should:
- Place "daily use" items, such as toothpaste, curling irons, make-up kits, and razors in a basket or box and store out of sight
- Empty garbage containers
- Hang fresh towels neatly on towel bars
- Clean mirrored and glass surfaces
3.) Outdoors.
- If possible, spruce up your lawn and garden
- Outdoor furniture should be organized and in good shape
- Driveways and entrances should be free of clutter (bikes, kids' toys, etc., should be removed)
- In winter, walks and driveways should be cleared of snow; in summer, lawns should be mowed.

The videographer will arrive at the scheduled appointment time. In some instances, he or she may arrive early in order to capture some outdoor shots of your home. The video shoot usually takes about an hour; however, depending on the particular features of your home, production times will vary.
